Old "Ratusha"

The Ivano-Frankivsk region is formed in 4th of December 1939 a year (to 1962 the year - Stanislav region). It is located in the west of Ukraine. She borders from Chernivci and Zacarpathian regions. On an extreme south during a 50 km border of region is a state boundary Ukraine from Romania. Border from, that passes for, during ages, to 1945 the year, also was a border — both from or from Chehoslovakia.

Territory of region is 13,9 thousands of кm . After character of relief she divides by three parts: flat, pre-mountain and mountain. A relief height grows from a north-east on a south-west. Climate

Such climatic terms promote organizations of whole-year rest and treatments. On the Carpathian slopes snow lies to five months, and it, in the turn assists development of mountain-skiing. The rivers in considerable part have mountain character, form cascades and waterfalls, given to water tourism. Most rivers — Dnister and, thus Prut takes beginning on territory of region, from under Goverla.

Ivano-Francovsk region — one of most rich in the forests in Ukraine. The wooded of territory is 41%. Foliages prevail in flat part, in pre-mountain are the coniferous forests. A fir-tree which a local population poetic names a fir-tree prevails among coniferous breeds. SubAlpic's meadows begin on heights over 1500 m.

The variety of natural factors stipulates the presence of animal kingdom, whether not the richest in Ukraine. On the certain types of beasts and birds hunt is settled in a hunting-season. On wild wild boars and roe deer of hunt it is possible at presence of license to the game shooting.

Part of mountain territory of region by an area 503 apt. selected a Carpathian nature’s national park. He engulfs the riverhead of the rivers Prut and Black Cheremosh from m.Goverla. Demography

A population of region is 1 million 460 thousands of persons. In an ethnographic relation Ivano-Frankivsk consists of Boykivshchyna and Guculshchyna. Their habitants saved some differences in a language, clothes, culture and way of life and it is already come into these the notice of tourists.

Ivano-Frankivsk is proud of the cultural and historical inheritance. On its territory 3,5 thousands of sights of history and culture are taken under the guard of the state.
